Chrome extension
Some review sites, like Wirecutter, block our reader, so their lists show up as "Couldn't read". The extension lets you open one of those articles in your own browser and add its picks to your result. Only you see the result it changes.
Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store.
How it works
- On a result, click "Open to add with the extension" next to a list we couldn't read.
- On the article, click the comparison-shop button in your browser's toolbar. It shows you the text it read.
- Click "Add to my result". The picks merge into your ranking, the same way as a list you add by link.
Privacy
- It reads a page only when you click its button on that page, and shows you the text before anything is sent.
- It sends the text to comparison-shop.com only when you click "Add to my result", and only to add it to your own result.
- Until your result page takes it, the text waits in your browser's memory for at most 5 minutes. We never save the text.
- For each article you add with it, we keep the article's address (without anything after the "?"), the search you added it to, the names of the products it found, and a scrambled form of your IP address that can't be turned back into the address. We don't keep the page's text.
- It remembers your last 10 searches in your browser's storage, so it can offer them when you add an article.
- It can only run on comparison-shop.com and on a page you click its button on.
